| Significance of Name |
Nahir: From the Hebrew, the brother of Abraham, Nahir means clear or bright. Miguel: From the English name Michael which means "who is like God?". This is the name of one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition and the only one identified as an archangel in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation in the New Testament he is portrayed as the leader of heaven's armies, and thus is considered the patron saint of soldiers. Nahir's name represents that he is "clearing" the way for Santiago, so that he knows that he will be killed by the Brothers Vicario. Miguel is the name of an arch-angel. Michael was the head of the army of God, and this signifies that Nahir Miguel is trying to save Santiago Nasar. |
